C2C Day 2 : Keswick to Langwathby via the Old Coach Road
We set off on day 2 in high spirits but knowing that we had a tough
day ahead of us. We had decided to do as many off road routes as
possible and so took the steep rocky Old Coach Road out of Threlkeld
Common. It was hard work in the heat but we also made the mistake
of thinking we had made it to the top too early - only to find the
trail snaking up the hillside around the corner.
Still, we pushed
on to the top and after a rocky descent on the coach road we cycled
along hilly country lanes to Greystoke (of Tarzan fame) and then
against a headwind to Penrith. After another tough climb we arrived
at the pub in Langwathby to meet Wez & Sarah for a well earned
pint of Dorithy's 90th Birthday Ale. Hurrah !
