C2C Day 5 : Rowlands Gill to Newcastle Tynemouth
On the final day we followed the Derwent walk through forested valleys
to the outskirts of Gateshead and then picked up the Hadrian's Wall
Cycle route to the River Tyne. Following the river we were soon passing
the famous Millennium Bridge in Gateshead and then up into Newcastle.
Following cycle lanes and footpaths we made our way through into
North Shields and then onto Tynemouth and the finish. The weather
had brightened all day and it was lovely and sunny by the time
we reached the sea at Tynemouth. Wez and Sarah arrived (with perfect
timing) and we rode across the beach to dip our front wheels in
the North Sea and it was complete!! Champaign flowed as we celebrated
a 148 mile job well done!!!
